A Philippine air-force C-130 troop carrying aircraft crashed in a village of the southern province of the country, on Sunday July 4.
One of the two ex U.S Air Force aircraft handed to Philippines in the form of military assistance, the Lockheed C-130 Hercules crashed mid-landing in Bangkal village, located in Patikul of the Sulu province killing 47 people. Military chief Cirilito Sobejana said.
He further mentioned on Monday July 5, that all 96 of the passengers in the aircraft have been accounted for.
49 military personnel were left injured as a result of the crash, while 3 civilians on the ground were killed and 4 were left injured from the crash.
Investigations regarding the incident are to begin after the rescue operation has been carried out and completed, said Defence Secretary Delfin Lorenzana.
However, no signs if attack on the plane have been detected so far.
