No unauthorized hospital in Bangladesh: Health Minister

Staff Correspondent: Bangladesh cannot operate any hospital, diagnostic center or clinic without approval. We have officially instructed the Civil Surgeons. Institutions that do not have a license will be shut down. However, Health Minister Zahid Malek has said that he will not allow people to play tricks on peoples' lives.

He made this statement as the chief guest at the handing over ceremony of 100 ventilators at Kurmitola General Hospital in the capital on Sunday (November 15).

He said the directors of the health department have been instructed to visit all the hospitals, diagnostic centers and clinics in the district. Unlicensed companies will be shut down. Those whose licenses have expired will be given a time limit. Those who do not have equipment or lack of equipment, will also be given time. If everything does not gets fixed within the allotted time, I will close down.

Claiming that the situation in Bangladesh is relatively good, he said the death rate is much lower. However, the rate of infection has not decreased. Occasionally the rate of infection is increasing. The recovery rate has increased. We have taken several steps to reduce the infection. Letter has been given to the Ministry. If you want to get the service of government organization, you have to come after the mask. No mask, no service. I am spreading it all over the country. I am building a social movement. Many do not agree. Again, many are obeying. But I don't think it will happen everywhere overnight. Always take care that no one is indifferent to the mask.

It is not possible for us alone to deal with the second wave of corona, he added. The Ministry of Health will not be able to prevent the infection. He will be able to serve. Can give treatment. Controlling infection requires everyone's participation. Only people can control the infection. If people are indifferent, the infection will increase.
