Ghulam Arieff Tipoo dies

Staff reporter : International Crimes Tribunal's (ICT) Chief Prosecutor Ghulam Arieff Tipoo died in a hospital in the capital on Friday.

He breathed his last around 8am while undergoing treatment at Labaid Specialized Hospital, said ICT Prosecutor Advocate Md Mukhlesur Rahman Badal.

Ghulam Arieff Tipoo was appointed the chief prosecutor of the International Crimes Tribunal formed for conducting trials of those involved in the crimes against humanity during the Liberation War in 1971.

Tipoo was born on August 28, 1931, in Kamalakantpur village under Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj. He also received the Ekushey Padak in 2019 for his contribution to the Language Movement in 1952.
