Staff Reporter: Sudhanshu Shekhar Bhadra, Director General (DG) (current duties) of the Postal Department, has been sent on compulsory leave as preliminary investigation found evidence of corruption.
He was sent on compulsory leave from Wednesday (November 11) and an order was issued by the Department of Posts and Telecommunications on Monday.
The order said that in the interest of taking action as per the provisions of 'Government Employees (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 2018' on the basis of the information obtained in the preliminary investigation of various allegations against Director General (Current Responsibilities) of the Postal Department Sudhanshu Shekhar Bhadra from November 11. It was directed to go on compulsory leave till further notice.
It is learned that Sudhanshu Shekhar, Director General of the Postal Department, has been accused of embezzling hundreds of crores of rupees for providing digital services to the people of the village. From shopping to setting up digital post centers - there are signs of irregularities everywhere. Not only that, many digital centers do not exist, but the name has been raised to 540 crore 94 lakh. All this has come up in the investigation report prepared by the postal department. The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has also summoned him.
On September 23, the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology recommended that he be removed from office.
