Sun News Desk: A total of 2,695 Bangladeshi migrants residing abroad have passed away as a result of being infected with Covid as of June 19.
This information has been relayed by the Bangladesh Embassy in various countries, the international media, as well as the expat community.
Despite the subsiding number of deaths in the UK and US, gradual increase in them can be seen in the Middle-east.
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. A.K Abdul Momen, has requested Bangladeshi expatriates to maintain all of the safety precautions for Covid. In addition to that, he also mentioned the ongoing effort in inoculating them.
However, when migrant workers in the Middle East have to be crammed together to reside in one house, increases the risk of transmission, he added.
Sources have said that Saudi Arabia has seen the highest number of Bangladeshi deaths due to coronavirus.
As of Saturday, around 1,123 Bangladeshis alone faced fatal consequences of the virus in Saudi Arabia.
The United States seconds that, as about 445 Bangladeshi nationals have died there.
Following that, about 412 Bangladeshi died Covid related deaths in the UK, 265 in UAE, 81 in Bahrain, 70 in Oman, 45 in Qatar, 43 in Italy, 30 in South Africa, and Lebanon, 9 in Canada, 8 in Sweden, 7 in France, and Spain, 3 in Belgium, and Swaziland, 2 in Portugal, and in 1 each in Libya, Gambia, Kenya, Maldives, and India.
Singapore has seen the first cases of coronavirus infecting Bangladeshi expatriates, and currently, about 30 thousand Bangladeshis residing there have been infected with it. However, no deaths have been reported so far.
