International Desk: 8 migrants have died after a boat sank off the coast of the South Pacific Ocean in Mexico.

Authorities said on Friday (March 29) that the victims were Asian. AP news

Prosecutors in the southern Mexican state of Osaka said one survivor of the boat accident was an Asian man. So based on preliminary investigation, the victims seem to be from Asia.

The bodies were found near a beach in the town of Playa Vicente, about 400 kilometers east of the Mexican border. The authorities are investigating the cause of the boat sinking.

This is the main sea route through Mexico to the United States. They use this route to evade immigration checkpoints inside Mexico. But most migrants travel by land.
