Sports Desk: Bangladesh Under-20 National Women’s Team thrashed Turkmenistan by 4-0 to get off to a great start in their AFC Women’s U20 Asian Cup Qualifiers in the Kamalapur Stadium.

Akalima Khatun and Swapna Rani scored a couple of goals for the hosts to further increase the gap.

From the first minute of the match, Bangladesh created several goal opportunities. However, Bangladesh had to wait until injury time to score. The hosts advanced in the match with forward Aklima's goal.

Turkmenistan also made counter-attack and created scoring opportunities. But Bangladesh goalkeeper Rupna Chakma came in front of the box and stopped the opponent's attack. Bangladesh did not give any chance to the opponent's girls in the second half as well. The lead doubled in the 71st minute. This time the goal was also by Akalima Khatun who scored 3 goals in the SAFF U-20 tournament last month.

In the previous match, Turkmenistan lost 1-7 against Iran. Turkmenistan has been knocked out of the tournament by losing today's match. Bangladesh must beat Iran to advance to the next round for qualifying.
