International Desk: At least 16 people have been killed and more than 50 others missing in a terrible landslide in Ecuador on Monday, reports Rescuers.

The landslide took place on Sunday night in the village of Alusi in Chimborazo province, three hundred kilometers south of Quito. A number of houses were buried and 23 people were injured.
Rescue workers are trying to recover survivors from under devastated homes.

Meanwhile, some government buildings have also been damaged due to the glacier. Roads and three schools were closed. The country's president Guillermo Lasso said firefighters were rushing to the village from nearby areas to help the victims. He also called for the evacuation of all citizens from the affected areas.
