Sun News Desk: Director General (DG) of National Consumer Rights Protection Directorate AHM Shafiquzzaman on Monday said the holy Zamzam water has been banned temporarily for selling in the country.

The decision was taken at a meeting over sale of Zamzam water in the open market.
AHM Shafiquzzaman said the sale of the holy water will be kept stopped till further decision.

A special drive is underway to find the source of the water that is being sold in the capital.
"Zamzam water is being sold in Dhaka illegally and it has been commercialized. Now, the market committee would decide what to do."

He said the organisation will be sealed, if anyone violate this ban.
The salesmen, in the meeting, said they buy one to two bottles from Hajj pilgrims and, later, are selling those.

It came to light following a report published on a online news portal. It was learnt that the Zamzam water was being sold in Baitul Mukarram market area at Tk 3,500 per litre.
