Stakeholders claim that it will be possible to declare the world polio-free in the next one to two years.
The last new case of polio was found in Bangladesh in November 2006. But Bangladesh was not declared polio-free in January 2011 after a new infection was detected in neighboring India. Currently, the successful implementation of the EPI program has made it possible to eradicate the deadly disease polio from the country.
