International Desk: The King of Saudi Arabia Salman bin Abdul Aziz received his first dose of corona vaccine. He was injected he first dose of the vaccine on Friday (January 8) , the country's state-run media quoted the Saudi Press Agency. Reuters.
Reuters reports that Saudi state media have released two pictures and a video clip of the king being vaccinated. It was seen that a health worker was vaccinating King Salman.
Meanwhile, AFP reported that the first shipment of Pfizer-Bioentech corona vaccine was received in Saudi Arabia on December 17 and more than 1 million have already registered for the vaccination program.
Citing the country's health ministry, AFP says the program will be carried out in three-stages. The first stage will vaccinate people over the age of 65, the second stage for people over the age of 50 and the last step will vaccinate everyone else.
The country's health ministry says the vaccine will be given to Saudi nationals and residents completely free of charge.
After Bahrain, Saudia Arabia is the second country in the Gulf Region who approves vaccine developed by pharmacutical giants Pfizer and its German partner BioNTech.
