International Desk: Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has imposed a ban on import of US and UK coronavirus vaccines in Iran. Iran's supreme leader had said on Friday that US and Britain were completely "untrustworthy" .Reports Al Jazeera.
In a televised speech on Friday, Khamenei said he had no confidence in the vaccines coming from two Western powers. Because these two countries have the highest corona transmission and death rates in the world.
He said if Americans could make the vaccine, they would not have failed to deal with the coronavirus in their own country. He also mentioned that 4,000 people die every day in the United States alone in Corona.
"If Pfizer could produce a vaccine, why would they want to give it to us? They should take it for themselves so that they do not die too much. He added, "Our people will not be a testing device for vaccine manufacturing companies. We shall purchase safe foreign vaccines.”
A spokesman for Iran's Red Crescent Society said Khamenei's order suspended plans to import 150,000 doses of the Pfizer-Bioentech vaccine for the donors.
In a speech on Friday, Khamenei praised Iran's efforts to develop the vaccine, saying it was a source of pride.
