Director Farhan Akhtar produced 'Don' in 2006, inspired by the film directed by Chandra Barot and starring Amitabh Bachchan, released in 1978. Fans accepted Shahrukh as 'Don'. Encouraged by the popularity and success of 'Don', Farhan wrote 'Don-2' in 2011 after five years.
