Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahid Uddin Swapan said, expatriate Bangladeshis are a valuable asset to the country. Their knowledge, talent, wisdom, and hard work are strengthening the national economy. He called upon expatriate Bangladeshis to come forward and contribute more to the country’s development in the future.
The minister made these remarks this morning at his office in the ministry when Civic Mayor of Tameside Council in Manchester, England, Councilor Shibly Alam paid a courtesy call on him.
The minister said that England is the cradle of democracy. Bangladeshis living there for a long time are not only contributing economically but are also playing a positive role in advancing democracy in Bangladesh.
During the meeting, Councilor Shibly Alam highly praised women’s empowerment in Bangladesh. She expressed hope that Bangladeshi women will move further ahead in various sectors, including economic development and in social and state affairs. She also expressed interest in working for the health and rights of Bangladeshi women.
Both sides expressed optimism about further strengthening the relationship between Bangladesh and the United Kingdom.
