Dr Zafrullah no more

Sun News Desk : Gonoshasthaya Kendra founder and freedom fighter Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury has passed away in Dhaka on Tuesday night. He was 81.

He breathed his last around 11:30 pm while undergoing treatment at Gonoshasthaya Nagar Hospital at Dhanmondi.

Prime Minister's personal physician and medicine specialist Dr ABM Abdullah confirmed the matter.

Brigadier General (retd) Dr Mamun Mostafi, the main coordinator of the medical board formed for his treatment, also confirmed his death.

Dr Mamun Mostafi said, "With a heavy heart, I am informing that our Gonoshasthaya Kendra's founder Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury is no more. You will pray for pardon of his departed soul."

Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury had long been suffering from kidney disease. He was admitted to Gonoshasthaya Nagar Hospital at Dhanmondi of capital Dhaka on April 5 after he had fallen ill critically.
