International Desk: Joe Biden holds the record for most votes cast in a US presidential election. Democrat Joe Biden broke Barack Obama's record for most popular votes in 2008.
Biden received 7,21,10,951 votes as of 5 a.m. local time in the United States on Thursday (November 5). Earlier, the record holder of the highest number of votes, Barack Obama, received 6 crore 94 lakh 96 thousand 517 votes.
Not only that, Joe Biden has already confirmed his majority in the popular vote in the current election. Biden is at the top with more than 50 percent of the popular vote. Biden's rival, incumbent President and Republican candidate Donald Trump, has so far received 6,843,544 votes. The country still has five states left to count votes.
However, the number of votes remaining to be counted in those states is about 16 lakh 21 thousand. Even if all these votes are added to the Trump camp, Joe Biden will be ahead in the popular vote. But Joe Biden is ahead in the state of Nevada. Biden will get more votes if that calculation is intact.
Overall, Joe Biden now holds the most popular vote in the country's history.
This election has broken another record. This is the largest number of eligible citizens in the country since 1908. Although it was estimated at 6 percent, this time the highest turnout was 85 percent.
