Two Muslim Women Re-elected in the United States

International Desk: Once again, Democratic candidate 41-year-old Omar ilahana has been elected as a member of the US Congress. This Muslim woman of Somali descent was elected for the second term. Another Muslim woman, Rashida Talib, has been re-elected to the US House of Representatives.

Ilhan Omar easily defeated rival Republican candidate Lacy Johnson.

She was elected in her constituency of Minnesota with 97% of the vote. Earlier, in 2016, Ilhan was elected as a member of the Minnesota state parliament.

Palestinian descent Rashida Talib, the Democrat candidate, defeated Republican candidate, David Dudenhofer and has been re-elected in Michigan's 13th Congressional District.

After the victory, Rashida Talib said that in her second term in Congress, she would give top priority to preventing Covid-19 and would continue to focus on human rights in Palestine.
