Bangabandhu's sculpture vandalized in Kushtia

Staff Reporter, Kushtia: Miscreants have smashed the sculpture of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman under construction in Kushtia. On Friday (December 4) night, they smashed the right hand, the whole face and part of the left hand of the sculpture of Bangabandhu under construction at the intersection of 5 streets of Kushtia Municipality.

When the matter came to light on Saturday (December 5) morning, leaders and activists of various political and social organizations including Awami League and Jasad hold protests, processions and human chains at Bangabandhu Super Market premises and Thana corner of the city.

According to the municipal authorities, an initiative was taken to build three sculptures of Bangabandhu on the same altar. Besides, sculptures of 4 national leaders will also be constructed on this altar. In the meantime, the work of setting up a sculpture of Bangabandhu is nearing completion. The miscreants smashed the sculpture last night.

Kushtia Superintendent of Police SM Tanvir Arafat said, “Those involved in the incident have been identified by looking at the CCTV footage. They will be brought under the law soon."
