The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is providing a loan of ৫ 50 million or Tk 425 crore for the implementation of public-private partnership (PPP) infrastructure projects in Bangladesh.
This information was given in a notification sent from ADB's Dhaka office on Thursday (September 10).
The notification said that a loan agreement has been signed in this regard. The agreement was signed by Economic Relations (ERD) Secretary Fatima Yasmin and ADB Country Director Manmohan Prakash.
Also signed by SM Anisuzzaman, CEO of Bangladesh Infrastructure Finance Fund Limited (BIFFL).
At the end of the agreement, Manmohan said the project would strengthen BIFFL's capacity to consolidate private investment, develop infrastructure projects and create employment. Which will accelerate the economic recovery process following the epidemic of coronavirus (Covid-19).
The project is expected to create about 3,000 jobs in BIFFL-backed PPP projects by 2024. It will also act as a catalyst for financing and investment in the development of commercial infrastructure in the larger private sector. He will also help the government implement the PPP strategy.
