Akbar Ali Khan laid to rest

Sun News Desk: Former advisor to the caretaker government and renowned economist Akbar Ali Khan has been laid at the Martyred Intellectuals' Graveyard at Mirpur in the capital of Dhaka.

He was buried to rest around 3:05 pm on Friday in the presence of his family members and relatives.

His namaz-e-janaza was held at Gulshan Azad Mosque after the Jummah prayer and a guard of honor was given to him there.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, and Gonoshasthaya Kendra founder Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury, among others, took part in the namaz-e-janaza.

Earlier, Akbar Ali Khan died from a heart attack at United Hospital in the capital at around 10pm on Thursday.

He was taken to the hospital in the evening after he fell ill at his residence.

Akbar Ali was one of the most prominent faces of public service in Bangladesh who served different organizations, including the Water Resources Ministry, Bangladesh Public Administration Training Centre, Finance Division, Cabinet Division and World Bank.
