<![CDATA[Court Report: "I feel embarrassed and am transferring the case to another court. Do you object?" the judge asks!

Defence and prosecution lawyers have filed opposing petitions in the case against cricketer Nasir Hossain and his wife Tamima Sultana, who stand accused of marrying while Tamima was still legally married to another man.

On Monday, Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Wahiduzzaman, calling the day’s developments “embarrassing” for the court, ordered the case to be transferred to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's court.

Both Nasir and Tamima appeared for the defence hearing. Their lawyer, Azizur Rahman Dulu, submitted two appeals — one of which accused the plaintiff’s lawyer Ishrat Hasan of “contempt of court”.

According to the defence petition, Ishrat had publicly claimed on Apr 16 that Nasir "seduced" Tamima through adultery, despite the fact that the trial on the issue is still ongoing. "Only after the court delivers its verdict can it be determined whether Nasir committed adultery or not," the petition argued.

During the hearing, Dulu also requested the court to read a summary of the case instead of the full charges as directed earlier by the High Court.

Plaintiff's lawyer Ishrat countered, pointing out that Dulu had previously represented the plaintiff in this case, and under legal norms, he should not now represent the defence.

Hearing arguments from both sides, Magistrate Wahiduzzaman said: "Both sides have the right to appeal. However, this is a busy court — we do not have the luxury to prolong a single case at the cost of others. I feel embarrassed and am transferring the case to another court. Do you object?"

Both sides agreed they had "no objection," prompting the magistrate to direct the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate to reassign the case.

Witness testimony in the case wrapped up on Apr 16, with 10 witnesses testifying.

According to the case documents, Tamima married Rakib Hasan on Feb 26, 2011, and they have an eight-year-old daughter. However, while still legally married to Rakib, she allegedly married Nasir on Feb 14, 2020. Their wedding came to light after photos surfaced online on Feb 14, 2021.

Rakib subsequently filed a case with the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court in Dhaka on Feb 24, 2021. Following an investigation, the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) named Nasir, Tamima, and Tamima’s mother, Sumi Akter, as defendants in its Sept 30, 2021 report.

On Feb 9, 2022, the court indicted Nasir and Tamima, allowing the trial to proceed, though Tamima’s mother was discharged from the case.

Subsequently, both the defence and the plaintiff filed revision petitions, challenging parts of the indictment. On Feb 28, 2023, the court rejected both appeals, clearing the way for the trial to move forward. The trial officially began on Mar 20, 2023, with Rakib’s testimony.

<![CDATA[Entertainment Desk: Sarika wrote her name in acting from a very young age. Her mothers studio became her playground. Never went to school. But in acting-personality-mentality, Sarika is much different from contemporary actresses. She is independent and determined but later she had to lose all the property she earned to the maid.

She is a popular Bollywood actress. Her birth name is Sarika Tagore. She saw the separation of her parents in her childhood. Sarikar's father did not agree to take care of his wife and children. As a result, Sarika has to start acting from a young age. She never got a chance to go to school due to the pressure of earning.

Sarika's first film as a child artist is 'Majhli Didi'. Meenakumari played the role of Mejdidi in the film. Sarika played the role of her daughter Hemangini. After that, as a child artist, she started getting offers for multiple pictures. She also played the role of a boy as a child artist.

But due to the change in her appearance, she could not work as a child artist for long. Sarika realized that this time she had to find another character. She became a heroine at the age of 13 only. Sarika was Sachin's heroine in the 1985 Rajshree production's 'Geet Gata Chal'. In the first film, Sachin and Sarika became one of the most popular couple in Bollywood.

Sarika lived with her mother. Her mother would decide which picture to take and which not. Sarikar's relationship with Sachin became very close. Sarika also wanted to get married, but it did not happen due to her mother's intervention.

Sarika's life was completely under her mother's control. As time went on, Sarika improved her career and became more popular. She also earned a lot of money. But everything was under the mother.

It is alleged that Sarikar's mother not only controlled her, but also started torturing her over time. At first it was confined to the four walls of the house. But as her fame grew with the age of her daughter, she started harassing Sarika in public at different times.

Once she publicly slapped her daughter Sarika in front of the fans. Sarikar's dam of endurance was broken. She decided to stay apart on the same day. At the age of 21, she started living alone out of her mother's shadow. She left the house in one garment without any money. After spending the first few days in her car almost wandering, she gradually settled down to a lonely life.

She was looking for a house in Mumbai to stay. All the brokers she spoke to gave her a piece of news that was completely unknown to Sarikar. They said that she was looking for a house in the area where she had bought six flats. After searching, Sarika came to know that her mother had bought these flats in her own name with all the money she used to give to her mother.

Sarika did not tell her mother about this then. After the death of her mother, she went to take possession of the flats, then another problem arose. All the property was written by his mother in the name of a maid. The maid used to take care of her mother in her last life. Sarika also approached the court about this. But she did not get any property. The maid took all those properties of her earnings.

Later, Sarikar had a talk with superstar Kamal Hasan. Gradually romance from talk. At that time Kamal Hasan and Bani Ganpati were married for almost a decade. Knowing all this, Sarika got involved with Kamal. Neither of them hid their relationship. They also got married after being in a live-in for a few years. She also gave birth to two daughters Shruti and Akshara. But to everyone's surprise, their 18-year marriage broke up in 2004.

Kamal quit acting after marriage. But after the breakup, she started the second innings of acting again. Sarika always likes to look ahead. She is not willing to float in sadness holding on to the hard truth that has happened. So she got success in the second innings of her life. Sarika won a national award for her role as a Persian woman in the 2005 film Parzania. In the next few years, her performances in 'Wet Fry', 'Manorama Six Fit Under', 'Jab Tak Hai Jaan', 'Purani Jeans', 'Bar Bar Dekho' were acclaimed.

Sarika is not only an actress, but today she is also a successful costume designer, sound designer and assistant director.

<![CDATA[International Desk: The education system of universities is being segregated on the basis of gender after the start of the new administration by hoisting its own flag at the Presidential Palace in Afghanistan. At the same time a new dress code will be introduced. The country announced the new education policy on Sunday (September 12th).

The country's higher education minister, Abdul Baki Haqqani, said women would be allowed to study, but not co-education with men. In addition, the subjects that will be taught to women will be reviewed and determined.

They say they will not interfere in women's education and employment. However, after taking control of the country on August 15, they have banned women from working in all sectors of the country except the public health department. That said, stay away from work until the security situation improves.

Until the rebels came to power, men and women studied side by side in every educational institution and there was no restriction on women's clothing.

Higher Education Minister Mohammad Haqqani thinks that sudden change will not be a problem. "The people of Afghanistan are Muslims, so this policy is easy to accept," he said. In this situation, many have said that under the new rules, women will be left behind in education, not only that, they may also be deprived.

This is because Afghanistan does not have the capacity to adequately allocate funds for anything that needs to change, starting with the infrastructure for a separate education system for women. Even then, Haqqani insisted that there were all opportunities, including adequate female teachers, to separate the female education system and that alternative arrangements would be made where there was a shortage.

He said it all depends on the capacity and goodwill of a university. A male teacher can also teach women from behind the scenes or it is possible through technology. However, primary and secondary will be completely differentiated between men and women, which was once prevalent in Afghanistan. Besides, women have to wear hijab, but Haqqani has not clarified whether it covers the whole face or not.

Incidentally, from 1996 to 2001, during the previous regime of the Taliban, women's education was banned in schools, colleges and universities.
