<![CDATA[Naushin Ahmed Monira: Eden Women's College, the largest women's educational institution in the capital, is in full swing after the Corona epidemic was stopped for a long time. Vijay Utsav Mela is located near the campus. Which is called the fair or cake festival of art and tradition. The lifestyle of customary Bengal has been exhibited there. Various memories of the great liberation war have been displayed in different stalls of the fair. This festival is organized every year. This year's event was a bit of an exception. Throughout this year's festival in Eden, the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was celebrated.

It can be seen on the spot that a total of 30 stalls have been set up in the fair from each department of the college. The students appeared in the stalls with their own creations. Pitha-puli is notable among these. Almost everyone has come to the fair premises wearing Sari. Some are wandering around, some are busy eating cakes and some are busy taking pictures. They are touring the stalls in groups.

Among them, the stall of the political science department of Eden College has caught everyone's attention. As beautiful as the name of the stall is, they have decorated their stall in a different way. The stall has been named 'Krandasi'.

In this regard, Sonia Akhter, a student of the Masters Final of that department, said, "There is a significant mystery in naming our stall. Besides, we have given the name 'Krandasi' very thoughtfully. 'Krandasi' means earth."

She further said, "During the great liberation war of 1971, many sad 'mothers' cried in the corner of a house for nine long months waiting for their naughty son. We have tried to highlight that with this name. We named our stall in memory of the crying mother."

Sonia Akhter further said, "Besides, we have given more importance to trees and books in our stalls." The tree is a symbol of the purity of the environment. And I have kept the books as a symbol of the liberation war, Bangabandhu, political science. Besides, we have also given importance to the issue of Bangaliana. We also have Silk from Rajshahi, Jamdani sari from Dhaka, Nakshi Katha from Jamalpur, Nakshi Katha from Jessore in our stall.

Besides, there are various juicy food stalls including dragon fruit, betel leaf, Chitai Pitha and Semai. Food is served on banana leaves in the stall to bring out the rural tradition.

Pointing out that there are many types of local cake stalls, Sonia Akhter said that the festival being held at Eden College today is not a 'cake festival' but a 'victory festival'. At that time, he showed several types of rice arranged in his stall and said that Katari Bhog of Dinajpur, Birai, Aman and Aus rice of Sherpur are part of our tradition. Many of today's people do not know them properly. Maybe you know the name, but if you take it to the front, many will not recognize it. So this is just a small attempt to remind us of the Bengali tradition.

Tamanna Hawladar Mim, a student of the political science department who participated in the festival, said that there are GI products in the festival. The seniors of our department have taken this extraordinary initiative to highlight the Bengali tradition.

Tanjila Pinki, a student in the Department of Finance and Banking, said, “Every year there is a festival of victory and cake. I like the subject a lot. We are very happy about this.]]>

<![CDATA[Zahid Rakib: Lockdown has increased in the country to prevent the spread of corona. The situation of stopping every thing the day laborers of the city have become the most helpless, no work. The lockdown has affected their daily lives. Happy families, once low-income, are now living in uncertainty. Fell into the super-financial crisis. It is also uncertain how long it will take for such a terrible crisis to return to normal.

The number of unemployed people seems to be increasing. Those who used to live in any other profession. Corona has made their lives chaotic. Some have lost their jobs and are sending their families to the village to look for work.

It is learned that on Friday (August 7) at Lockdown in the capital's Mohakhali Labor Hat, they were talking to these people who were working on the spot. Although the number of laborers increased on such days, their workplaces did not increase.

Labor market is held every day by the railway gate of Mohakhali. And in this market we talk with Kabir Hossain who works as a mason. Kabir Hossain lives in a seven-storey slum. Couldn't work anywhere for a day in a long lockdown. For 20 years, he has been sitting in this labor market from 6 am. He used to work somewhere every day before Lockdown.

Alam, another worker next to him, said that if he had stood in such places before, the contractors would have taken him on a daily contract for 800-1000 rupees. But now no contractor is starting work because of Corona. As a result, many masons and helpers like them have become unemployed.

Shahjahan Mia said, there was no work before Eid, I could not eat any food for two days. I have somehow survived by borrowing from other people. From the lockdown we all come in the morning and wait until noon. If he doesn't get a job, he leaves again.

All those who come to this labor market in Mohakhali are residents of seven-storey slums. They complained that none of them received any relief from the government.

Sociologists say Corona has been in the situation for more than a year and a half. He lost his livelihood in a long lockdown last year. The poverty rate, which was 20 percent at the end of 2019, has risen to 40-41 percent. That means the number of poor people has almost doubled. Low-income people no longer have the ability to take on new responsibilities.

The government has a major role in the situation, said Professor of the Department of Sociology, University of Dhaka. Nehal Karim.

He said the government should co-operate with the poor people who have been affected by the lockdown. If such an initiative is not taken, more inequality will increase in the society and at the same time the number of poor in the country will increase.

<![CDATA[Wahid Tausif Musa: Slaughter the animals of the mind, the animals also live, everyone lives.

Eid-ul-Azha! Animal sacrifice alone does not teach; One of the main objectives of this is to teach the responsibility of human beings and the glory of sacrifice. Inspired by the teachings of sacrifice, Eid-ul-Azha is celebrated every year on the 10th, 11th and 12th of the month of Jilhaj by sacrificing animals.

Achieving the pleasure of Allah and putting smiles on the faces of the poor and building bridges between relatives. This Eid plays a special role in the Muslim world in order to purify oneself and devote one's soul to the cause of Allah alone. On the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha, there is a lot of money spent on buying animals for sacrifices, as well as buying new clothes and cosmetics.

Especially for the children of the family, there is extra shopping. But humanity seems to be getting lost in the crowd around the festival.

How many other children of the same age as your child or the youngest member of the family who can't afford to buy expensive clothes at the expense of the family, those who stand at your door for a handful of meat? The number of people who think so is also very low. One of them is Samsul Alam Saddam.

Before Eid or on the day of Eid, many people take various initiatives for helpless street children and distressed people. Saddam has been organizing such an event for the past few years. On the day of Eid, when everyone is busy celebrating Eid with family and friends, he wanders from slum to slum in Dhaka.

Wander around the familiar and unfamiliar streets of Dhaka including TSC. In turn, he distributed new clothes for the disadvantaged and deprived children of Eid and new shiny notes for Eid salami.Sometimes he hugs the children in dirty clothes with absolute affection.

They find the joy of Eid in the midst of giving the children new clothes with their own hands. He has various plans, dreams, feelings and love for these disadvantaged children.

Samsul Alam Saddam said, "The life of the street children has always made me very sad and agitated. I want to do something for them long ago. . In the busyness of livelihood, not many things happen, but the dreams are indomitable.

So this effort is from the thought of keeping these children a little better at least on festive days within one's means. I want to take this initiative to a wider level in the future. "

"Eid does not bring them a happy message," he said. The condition of some way children in the city is more deplorable. Every year different organizations give clothes for Eid but this year they did not get anything. As there are no people on the road, there is no certainty about what to eat on Eid.

Thinking about these disadvantaged children, I went out on the street.Sit with them, listen to the insatiable pain behind their words, listen to life, the story of life with life. I see the possibility of falling behind the screen due to carelessness. Wants to go closer and hear a lot more, but what a benefit sadness increases!

<![CDATA[The world is in your hands today. Mobile journalism has made it easier and easier. It can be broadcast live or video from one place to the whole world in an instant. Nowadays the word ‘viral’ is becoming very familiar.

Being viral has also been possible for the benefit of smartphones. However, there are a number of tools needed for ‘mobile journalist’ or mojo for short and its proper use.

A mobile journalist can easily use any other portable digital device to make a mojo. For example, he can use a smartphone instead of a DSLR camera to take pictures, because these cameras are not ready for taking pictures everywhere. So smartphones are mainly used as a primary device in mobile journalism.

Modern smartphones are very good at taking pictures, editing pictures, making videos, interviewing people. Although, many mobile journalists use laptops to edit their news. But despite all this, the main focus of mobile journalism is a smartphone.

The whole world is under house arrest for the Corona Virus. Millions of people are dying. And this list also includes journalists. In the time of crisis mobile phone or smartphone journalism has become an essential tool for the media in exchanging information. So as a small media worker, I think to enter mobile journalism in a matter of days. This is the future of the youth, their good days.

In Bangladesh, too, offices and courts have been closed due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus, and many are also avoiding printed newspapers coming through hawkers as the disease is contagious. As a result, newspaper sales in Dhaka have dropped by almost half, according to a recent report on bdnews24. com.

Due to its small size, the use of mobile phone journalism in any big event or crisis situation is incomparable. And now the number of smartphone users in the country is over two crore. As a result, 'mobile journalism' needs to be restored at this time.

Mobile journalists make big mistakes when they want to imitate television journalism. They think that if you can do it like television, if you can do it like a television presenter, you will be successful. But mobile journalism is not that.

The point is, you have to be creative. Creating professional media content for journalism, especially for the broadcast media, requires knowledge of the real art of ‘smartphone filming’. Influential media outlets such as CNN, BBC and Al-Jazeera host training workshops on mobile journalism.

Mobile journalism has not yet gained full recognition in our country. Because the amount of care that is needed for this, but in some parts of the country has not yet begun. In order to create a large number of mobile journalists, regular training workshops have to be organized in this regard in order to increase the quality. Later, they will make a lot of YouTube content, Facebook content and will also earn dollars from there. Only then I believe that the crisis of journalism in the country will be overcome soon.

<![CDATA[Having to live in a post-9/11 world, it should be of no surprise that life is not as breezy as it could be for minorities, like Muslims, who moved to the United States, to chase the big American Dream, from their shabby little war, and conflict-torn lands of the third world.

Following that, the past decade have been marred with increasing numbers of hate crimes committed against minorities in the west, like; Muslims, Blacks and East-Asians etc. mostly caused by people of caucasian ethnicity, often upholding the far right-wing agenda of aggravation against non-whites.

A 2019 report released by the FBI’s Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program, suggest that the majority of hate crime against single-bias victims, were motivated mostly by race/ethnicity/ancestry (57.6%), and religion (20.1%), where, of the known 6,406 offenders, 52.5% of them were white.

Incidentally, it would seem that the United States is the hot-spot for a majority of such hate crimes, and domestic terrorism caused against minorities, where over 100 such occurrences took place. Yet, western political figures, and media are still hell-bent on vilifying Muslims as the flag bearers of terrorism, turning a blind eye to the far-right extremists, who’ve killed twice as many people in the US than any Muslim terrorist groups since 9/11.

While a concrete reason as to the hate crimes committed by far right-wing extremists is difficult to provide, the pattern of violence does however, lead to deciphering their endeavors of ethnic cleansing in order to form an ethno-state comprising of solely white Christians, annihilating any other race/ethnicity/religion in the way. To no one’s surprise, this further ploughs in the xenophobic, intolerant mindset the alt right already bears, and that the world has come to associate the States by.

Provided the meager number of the time the US political figures spent trying to bring into account the heinous acts of violence against minorities, the alt right American population has never failed to bust out the only trivia knowledge they have on the American legislation, that of “free speech”, conveniently, sweeping the several laws on hate speech and domestic terrorism, under the rug. While spreading misinformation to some, might not seem as much of a threat, the amount of people treating baseless and hateful tweets, reddit, and 4chan posts as a holy grail of information, might be surprising, if not utterly disappointing. According to UN Special Rapporteur on minority issues, Dr Fernand de Varennes, the efforts in reducing “the tsunami of hate and xenophobia in social media”, have been made futile, as online platforms further fuel the wildfire of radical hate against minorities.

The epidemic of hate that has lasted for a long time in the US, one of the many examples being the shooting of African Americans in Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church, in 2015, by Dylan Roof, has spread to other parts of the world, making terrorists like Brenton Tarrant, and the suspected, Nathaniel Veltman, for the Christchurch shooting in 2019, and the radical killing of a Muslim family, including an injury of one, in Ontario as recently as June 2021, respectively.

Considering the incline in globalization, the rise of the number of minorities in America over the past decade, as well as the resulting rise in hate against minorities is to be considered. With that, the key prioritization of their safety and rights must be taken into consideration as well, in order to halt the chain of hate that has been on the incline in recent years. Additionally, “a zero tolerance policy for hate speech, hate crime and racism against minorities must be adopted by States and tech and social media companies, recommends the report. Rigorous monitoring of hate speech and racism is also a critical requirement.”

Over the bleak horizon, acting as a sliver of sunlight, is the youth of today raising their voices, and risking their lives protesting against such acts of violence. Although, years of systematic hate and terrorism cannot be undone overnight, at-least without leaving a nasty scar on the world’s socio-political system, we can only hold onto the rags of hope we have.

“Hope” is the thing with feathers -

That perches in the soul -

And sings the tune without the words -

And never stops - at all –“

- Emily Dickinson

<![CDATA[''And verily! In the cattle, there is a lesson for you. We give you to drink of that which is in their bellies, from between excretions and blood, pure milk; palatable to the drinkers'' (An Nahl 16:66).

Allah has highlighted the necessity of milk in the Qur'an to all human beings through a marvelous presentation. In Islam, the significance of milk is explained, but the significance of all religions is also stated.

Every year, World Milk Day is observed to highlight the importance of milk to the global community. This year, the theme will focus on sustainability in the dairy sector messages
around the environment, nutrition and socio-economics.

Milk's nutritional benefits have long persuaded people all over the world to incorporate it into their diet. Milk can also help you achieve a well-balanced diet by adding it to your daily diet. Vitamin A and B, calcium, carbohydrate, phosphorus, magnesium, protein, zinc, and riboflavin are found in milk.

The health benefits of milk can be achieved from milk directly or its products such as cheese, butter, curd, ghee, ice cream, paneer, flavored milk, milk sweets etc. Some benefits of milk are given below;

• Calcium: The best source of calcium for our bodies is milk. Calcium protects the body from bone loss, arthritic disorders, migraine headaches, premenstrual syndrome, and obesity in youngsters and assists in the removal of undesirable fats.

• Rehydration: Fluids are an essential component of the human body. Liquids must be replaced in the body at regular periods. Every day, growing children should drink at least six to eight glasses of fluid. Milk is the ideal fluid for rehydration since it includes many water molecules.

• Skincare: Milk is known to benefit our skin by maintaining a fair and smooth complexion. As a result, milk and milk products are used in a variety of cosmetic formulations. Milk can also be used to treat dry skin.

• Improved Diet and Vitamin Intake: Medical research shows that drinking milk significantly increases our intake of essential minerals and vitamins.

• Wholesome Food: Food that is nutritious and full of vitamins and minerals to keep you fit, healthy, and strong. Vitamin A and B for good eyesight and RBC count, carbohydrates for vitality and energy, potassium for proper nerve function, magnesium for muscular function, phosphorous for energy release, and protein for body repair Furthermore, growth is all found in a glass of milk.

• Osteoporosis: Osteoporosis can result from a lack of calcium intake if milk and milk products are removed from the diet. This is especially concerning for women and the elderly, who require much calcium. Calcium deficiency may lead to disorders like osteoporosis (a disease characterized by bone loss).

• Colon cancer - Some researchers found that people who consume dairy products regularly have lower risk of developing colon cancer.

The people of Bangladesh are not aware about milk consumption. Even though milk production is short in supply. We can produce only 160 ml milk per person per day, compared to 250 ml per person per day. This deficiency has several causes, which are listed below:

1) Diseases: Various diseases are considered major problems in the dairy sector. Mastitis, FMD, Brucellosis, Repeat breeding syndrome, Nutrition deficient diseases etc.

2) Proper diagnosis and treatment: Despite the fact that the dairy industry has been afflicted by a variety of diseases, farmers have been unable to diagnose and treat diseases in a timely manner. The reason given is that farmers are unable to provide timely treatment or that doctors are in short supply.

3) AMR issue: Countries and nations face problems like Antibiotic Microbial Resistance (AMR) due to lack of knowledge of farmers and non-professional treatment.

4) Lack of Biosecurity Management: An essential part of the dairy sector is biosecurity management. Nevertheless, most of the farmers do not want to give importance to this matter. If proper management of dairy farms can be done correctly, it is possible to run profitable dairy farms.

5) Feed price high: The complaint from most farmers is that the price of feed ingredients is very high. For profitable farming, it is crucial to keep the price of cow feed within farmers' purchasing ranges.

6) Marketing problem: Farmers in our country face different problems in selling milk at different times. Due to the covid-19 situation, it has become clear that a marketing authority is essential for the sale of milk.

7) Lack of Entrepreneurship training: Various entrepreneurs are suffering due to a lack of proper training. Confused by information on the internet, many expatriates are losing out by investing in the dairy sector.

Lack of Research: After all, there is no substitute for research to bring the dairy sector to a topper. If it is possible to create a separate research organization for the dairy sector, it is hoped that all the problems of receptors in the country will be solved regarding this sector.

Finally, it can be said that Bangladesh's dairy sector is improving, even if there are still some flaws. According to statistics of Department of Livestock service (DLS), Bangladesh's milk production has increased from 72 to 107 lac metric tons in the last five years. Many projects, such as the Livestock and Dairy Development Project (LDDP), demonstrate a new vision for Bangladesh. During the corona period, the government's sincerity reflects its positive attitude toward the dairy industry. If some issues can be resolved, the dairy revolution is expected to happen soon.

Makkah: Saudi Arabia’s first female ambulance driver Sarah Khalaf Al-Enezi learned to drive in Amman,Jordan eight years ago while studying at the University of Science and Technology on a scholarship. But getting behind the wheel of an ambulance, and in a country where women have only recently started driving,is a difficult prospect altogether. An initial factor that prompted her to become an ambulance driver was the coronavirus outbreak. As an ambulance crew member, she is one of the first health professionals to face patients.

She experienced astonishment, and even disapproval, from Saudi society as she pursued her calling. But overcoming such challenges, not to mention the pressure that comes with this frontline role, has been worth it. “Being the first female ambulance driver in Saudi Arabia is an indescribable feeling. My field of work is a healing balm for my soul and a motivation to be more committed to helping the injured and saving lives,” she said. She further said, “It’s no easy task,it’s difficult and requires a great mental presence and speed in decision making.”

Family encouragement and support helped lead her to become a pioneer in Saudi Arabia. As a child she loved emergency work. “I used to keep wound patches with me and, when a family member was injured they used to call me immediately to help.I cleaned and dressed the wounds, and this was a source of my pride.”

She remembered her first emergency case, transferring someone from King Khalid Airport in Riyadh to a quarantine base in Al-Diriyah Hospital. She described it as one of the real tests of her life. She said that she was happy with what she has achieved and that Saudi women could present their skills, expertise and creativity at all levels, especially if they were given the chance and were trusted.]]>
