<![CDATA[The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has ordered the publication of a newspaper notice directing six fugitive accused, including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, to surrender in connection with a crimes against humanity case over the alleged killing of nine youths in a staged militant incident at Mirpur's Jahajbari in the capital.

The tribunal also fixed March 8 for the next hearing in the case.

A two-member ICT-1, led by Chairman Justice Md Golam Mortuza Mozumder, issued the order on Sunday. The other member of the panel is Justice Md Mohitul Haque Enam Chowdhury.

Eight accused in the case was scheduled to appear in the court today. As two were arrested, the tribunal ordered a notice to be published in the newspaper for surrender of the rest.

Earlier, the first tribunal issued arrest warrants against the six fugitives on January 29. The six accused are Sheikh Hasina, Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Sheikh Muhammad Maruf Hasan, Monirul Islam, Krishna Podo Roy, and Abdul Baten.

It had passed the order after taking into cognisance the formal charge filed against eight individuals. The ICT prosecution filed the formal charge with the office of the registrar on January 29.

On March 24, 2025, ICT-1 showed former Inspector General of Police (IGP) AKM Shahidul Haque and former commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Asaduzzaman Miah arrested in the case.

According to the prosecution, members of different units of the DMP and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) conducted a raid at a house locally known as 'Jahajbari' in the capital's Kalyanpur area on July 26, 2016.

Subsequently, allegations surfaced that the raid was staged and that the nine individuals killed, who were branded as militants, had no links to militancy. It was further alleged that they had been in police custody for a long time and were shot dead at close range.

Following the incident, then IGP AKM Shahidul Haque visited the spot and claimed that the deceased were members of the banned militant outfit Neo-Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (Neo-JMB).

<![CDATA[Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB), has warned that describing extortion in the road transport sector as a mutual settlement could pave the way for justifying similar practices in other areas, undermining the government’s stated zero tolerance policy on corruption.

In a statement issued on Friday, the anti corruption watchdog said attempts to reframe extortion as a negotiated transaction contradict the government’s declared stance against corruption and risk legitimizing unethical practices.

TIB cautioned that such interpretations could embolden corrupt activities not only in the transport sector but also across state services and development administration.

The statement comes shortly after the newly formed government reiterated its commitment to a zero tolerance approach to corruption. TIB said that recharacterizing widely discussed extortion practices in the transport sector as a settlement within 48 hours of that pledge raises serious concerns about the administration’s position.

TIB Executive Director Dr Iftekharuzzaman said the definition of extortion put forward by the transport minister runs counter to the government’s anti corruption commitments outlined in its election manifesto and the prime minister’s address to the nation. Presenting an unethical and collusive crime in a positive light so soon after such pledges is deeply disappointing, he said.

He added that efforts to justify longstanding extortion practices in the road and transport sector under the pretext of owner and worker welfare are misleading. Rather than resolving systemic problems, such reasoning could entrench disorder and impunity. The financial burden of extortion, he noted, ultimately falls on ordinary passengers and transport workers.

Dr Iftekharuzzaman further warned that if road extortion is accepted as a settlement, the same logic could be extended to other sectors. These include the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority, healthcare, education, social protection, law enforcement, the judiciary, passport services, land administration and other public services, as well as government procurement, development projects, banking and the power sector. Such a trend, he said, would severely damage governance and accountability structures.

TIB urged the government to immediately reject the transport minister’s remarks at the highest level and ensure accountability through proper procedures if it is sincere about combating corruption. The organization also called for visible progress in internal party reforms and disciplinary measures.

Appealing directly to the prime minister, TIB said effective steps are needed to prevent what it described as self defeating actions by sections of party leaders and activists. Failure to act could erode public confidence and pose risks to the democratic process, the statement said.

<![CDATA[Born and raised in New York, Epstein taught mathematics and physics at the Dalton School in the mid-1970s

Jeffrey Epstein, the disgraced financier with a network of powerful friends, died in a New York prison cell on 10 August 2019, while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.

He had no chance of bail. Epstein's death came over a decade after he was convicted for soliciting prostitution from a minor and was registered as a sex offender.

This time, he faced allegations of running a "vast network" of underage girls for sexual exploitation, to which he pleaded not guilty.

In November 2025, the US Congress approved the Epstein Files Transparency Act, requiring the Justice Department to release its files from investigations into Epstein. President Donald Trump signed the bill and some documents were made public by the 19 December deadline, with more released in the following weeks, reports BBC.

While authorities have claimed the 30 January release marked the end of the review process, some critics argue too many documents remain withheld. The released material has illuminated Epstein's life and connections.

Early life and rise to wealth

Born and raised in New York, Epstein taught mathematics and physics at the Dalton School in the mid-1970s. Though he studied these subjects at university, he never graduated. His teaching led to a connection with a Wall Street partner at Bear Stearns, and Epstein became a partner within four years. By 1982, he founded J Epstein and Co., managing over $1 billion in client assets.

Epstein lived lavishly, owning properties in Florida, New Mexico, and New York, and mingled with celebrities, artists, and politicians. Former President Trump once described him as a "terrific guy" who enjoyed the company of young women. Trump later said he cut ties with Epstein over inappropriate behavior toward women at his Mar-a-Lago club.

Epstein's circle also included former President Bill Clinton, actors Kevin Spacey and Chris Tucker, and UK politician Peter Mandelson. Despite these high-profile associations, Epstein maintained a private personal life and dated women like Miss Sweden winner Eva Andersson Dubin and Ghislaine Maxwell, though he never married.

Criminal conviction and controversial plea deal

In 2005, Florida police were alerted to Epstein's abuse of a 14-year-old girl, leading to a search of his Palm Beach home and the discovery of numerous photos of young girls. Reports suggested his abuse had been ongoing for years.

Despite the gravity of his crimes, prosecutors negotiated a 2008 plea deal, allowing Epstein to serve 18 months in jail with work release privileges, avoiding federal charges that could have meant life imprisonment. He was registered as a high-risk sex offender for life.

Epstein maintained his wealth and properties post-conviction. In 2010, Prince Andrew was photographed with him, sparking controversy years later. Virginia Giuffre, an alleged victim, claimed she was forced to have sex with Andrew as a minor, which he denied, though he later settled a lawsuit filed by her.

Final arrest and death

Epstein was arrested on 6 July 2019, after returning from Paris. Prosecutors sought forfeiture of his New York mansion, a location tied to his alleged crimes. Denied bail, he was held in the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York. Epstein was briefly hospitalized in July 2019 for undisclosed injuries, but never faced trial.

The Maxwell trial

Following Epstein's death, his former partner Ghislaine Maxwell was arrested in July 2020 for aiding his sexual exploitation of minors. In December 2021, she was convicted on five counts, including sex trafficking of a minor, and sentenced to 20 years in prison. Maxwell had introduced Epstein to many of his wealthy and influential friends, including Clinton and Andrew, and continued collaborating with him professionally for years after their romantic involvement ended.

<![CDATA[A Dhaka court has been sentenced ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina to 10 years' of imprisonment for misuse of power in securing a 10-katha government plot in Purbachal area.

The court also sentenced her three nieces UK MP Tulip Siddiq to four years' imprisonment and Azmina Siddiq Ruponti and Radwan Mujib Siddiq Bobby to seven years' separately.

Judge Md Rabiul Alam of the Special Judge's Court-4 of Dhaka on Monday handed down the judgement in two cases involving plot allocations.

In the same verdict, the other accused in the case were also sentenced to various terms of imprisonment and fines according to the severity of their crimes.

All convicts were also fined Tk 100,000 each, with an additional six months rigorous imprisonment in default of payment.

According to the prosecution, two separate 10-katha plots in the diplomatic zone of Sector 27 of the Purbachal New Town project were illegally allocated- one in the name of Radwan Mujib Siddiq and the other in the name of Azmina Siddiq Rupanti, both children of Sheikh Hasina’s sister Sheikh Rehana. Investigators alleged that the allocations were made through undue influence and manipulation of administrative processes.

Tulip Siddiq, another daughter of Sheikh Rehana and a sitting British MP, was also implicated in the cases following the ACC investigation, which found her to be a beneficiary of the irregular allocation process.

The ACC filed the two cases on January 13 last year. In the first case, Radwan Mujib Siddiq was made the principal accused, while Sheikh Hasina, Tulip Siddiq and 14 others were named as co-accused. In the second case, Azmina Siddiq Rupanti was named as the principal accused, alongside the same set of co-accused.

Following investigations conducted by ACC assistant directors SM Rashedul Hasan and Afnan Jannat Keya, charge sheets were submitted to the court on March 10, expanding the number of accused to 18 in each case. The charge sheets included senior officials from the Ministry of Housing and Public Works and Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK), alleging their direct involvement in facilitating or approving the illegal allocations.

Among the convicted are former housing and public works state minister Sharif Ahmed, former RAJUK chairman Md Anisur Rahman Mia, several former RAJUK members responsible for estate, planning and development and senior bureaucrats from the housing ministry. Sheikh Hasina’s former private secretary Mohammad Salahuddin was also convicted.

The court found that the accused officials had collectively abused their positions, bypassed eligibility criteria and violated allocation rules to ensure the plots were allotted to politically influential beneficiaries.

The trial concluded after a prolonged judicial process, during which the prosecution presented documentary evidence, official records and witness testimonies to establish abuse of power, procedural violations and personal gain.

In delivering the verdict, the court observed that the offences constituted serious corruption involving misuse of state authority and public resources, warranting strict punishment under existing anti-corruption laws.

The verdict is being viewed as a major development in post-regime accountability efforts, as it involves convictions of a former prime minister, her family members, and senior government officials in a single corruption case related to state land allocation.

No immediate reaction was available from the convicted individuals or their legal representatives at the time of filing this report.

After his surrender, prosecutor Gazi MH Tamim confirmed the matter to media.

It is learned that, last year, Abul Kalam appealed to the Ministry of Home Affairs seeking suspension of his sentence. He made the application under Section 401 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.

On January 21, 2013, Justice Obaidul Hassan, Chairman of International Crimes Tribunal-2, delivered the verdict sentencing him to death.

Allegation of killing at least 14 persons, rape, kidnap, arson attack, looting have been brought against Azad and those were proved.

Out of eight charges, seven have been proved against Azad. Although there was scope to award the death penalty on three charges and imprisonment on four others, the tribunal did not pass sentences on those charges because the death penalty had already been imposed. Another charge was dismissed as the prosecution failed to prove it.

Kabir, an aide of main suspect Faisal Karim Masud, was produced before the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Hasibuzzaman in the afternoon following his arrest in attempted murder case involving Osman Hadi, a prospective independent candidate from Dhaka-8 constituency.

During the remand hearing, Kabir told the court that he was unaware of the incident and denied any involvement. “I don’t know anything about the incident. I only went with Faisal to Banglamotor and Inqilab Cultural Centre; nothing more,” he said after receiving the court’s permission to speak. Kabir appeared without legal representation.

The investigating officer, Detective Branch (DB) Inspector Faisal Ahmed, sought a 10-day remand for further interrogation. After the hearing, the court granted seven days’ remand.

Opposing the defense, Assistant Public Prosecutor (APP) Kaiyum Hossain Nayan told the court that Kabir is a close associate of the prime accused and had allegedly supplied weapons used in the attack.

The prosecutor also said investigators need to determine whether any foreign intelligence agency, including India’s Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), was involved.

He added that Kabir has knowledge of illegal arms transactions and is a joint convener of Awami League’s Swechchhasebak League in the capital's Adabar area.

When asked by the court about the motorcycle used in the crime, Kabir claimed it had been purchased by his friend Mainul Islam Shuvo using Kabir’s national ID card.

“The ownership is his, but it was bought using my ID,” he said.

When the court asked whether the vehicle was registered in his name, Kabir replied in the negative.

The attack occurred last Friday, a day after the election schedule was announced, when assailants fired at Osman Hadi from a moving motorcycle on Box Culvert Road at Old Paltan while he was traveling in a rickshaw.

Hadi, who was campaigning as an independent candidate for Dhaka-8 seat, sustained a gunshot wound to the head and remains in critical condition.

He was flown to Singapore by air ambulance on Monday for advanced treatment.

Following the incident, a case was filed with Paltan Police Station on Sunday night by Inqilab Mancha joint secretary Abdullah Al Jaber, naming Faisal as the prime accused.

Police have since arrested Faisal’s wife Saheda Parvin Samia, his brother-in-law Wahid Ahmed Shipu and his friend Maria Akter Lima, who were placed on remand on Monday.

Earlier, Abdul Hannan, identified as the motorcycle owner, was detained under Section 54 and placed on a three-day remand.

<![CDATA[The International Crimes Tribunal-1 has sentenced deposed prime minister Sheikh Hasina and former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal to death in the much-anticipated case over crimes against humanity involving the last year's July Mass Uprising.

A three-member bench of the ICT-1, led by Justice Golam Mortuza, pronounced the judgement on Monday in presence of co-accused former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun.

Sheikh Hasina and Asaduzzaman are fugitive, while Mamun, a state witness, is under police custody. The tribunal also ordered to confiscate the properties of Hasina and Asaduzzaman in favour of the state.

This is the first judgement in the July uprising case. According to the tribunal judgement, Sheikh Hasina was sentenced in two charges, while Asaduzzaman was sentenced in one charge. As Mamun is the approver, he awarded five-year jail sentences. The 453-page verdict consists of six parts, said one of the judges of the panel while stating the preamble of the verdict. He also said, there is no scope under the law to raise a question over the jurisdiction of the ICT.

On June 1, the prosecution formally filed charges against Sheikh Hasina and the two accused. Those are:

1. Inciting the crimes through provocative speech:

Following Sheikh Hasina's speech at a press briefing on July 14, 2024, former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, former IGP Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun and other senior officials of the then government abetted, assisted and were complicit in launching a severe and coordinated attack on unarmed student protesters.

2. Ordering the extermination of protesters using lethal weapons:

Sheikh Hasina is accused of ordering the extermination of student demonstrators through the use of helicopters, drones and lethal weapons. The then home minister and the then IGP facilitated and implemented this directive by issuing instructions to law enforcement personnel under their command.

3. Killing of BRUR student Abu Sayed:

This charge concerns the July 16, 2024 killing of Begum Rokeya University student Abu Sayed, who was shot multiple times at close range in the chest.

4. Chankharpul killings:

The shooting and killing of six unarmed protesters in Dhaka's Chankharpul area on August 5, 2024, has been brought as a separate count of crimes against humanity.

5. Ashulia mass killing:

The prosecution also cited the shooting of six student protesters in Ashulia on August 5, 2024 - five of whom were later burned after death, while the sixth was allegedly set on fire while still alive.

Former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, who testified as a state witness, received a five-year prison term.

The Awami League government fell on August 5, 2024, amid the uprising of the students and mass people.

Arguments in the case began on October 12 and concluded on October 23. Total 54 witnesses testified during the trial.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir express his reaction on the verdict as ‘end of all dictatorships’

On the other hand Law Adviser Asif Nazrul has said the government will send a fresh letter to India seeking the extradition of deposed Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, following her death sentence handed down by International Crimes Tribunal-1 (ICT-1).

Despite the verdict, its implementation remains uncertain because both Hasina and Asaduzzaman Khan have been residing in India since the fall of Awami League government on 5 August last year.

A previous request from Bangladesh for Hasina’s extradition received no response from New Delhi.

Speaking to reporters at Secretariat after the verdict, Asif Nazrul said the government would again formally ask India to return the former prime minister.

He added that continued sheltering of Hasina would amount to an unfriendly act toward Bangladesh.

Prosecutor Gazi Monowar Hossain Tamim said earlier that, following conviction, the prosecution will apply to Interpol for a “conviction warrant” to support the issuance of a Red Notice.

<![CDATA[Turkey placed arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other 37 Israeli officials on “genocide” charges. The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office said it has issued warrants against 37 people. Besides Netanyahu, warrants target Israel’s Defense Minister Israel Katz, National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir and military chief Eyal Zamir, among others.

The warrants charge the Israeli officials with “crimes against humanity” and “genocide” committed in Gaza and against the flotilla carrying aid to the enclave, according to the prosecutor’s office. That flotilla was intercepted by Israeli authorities last month.

Israel was quick to condemn and reject the warrants. Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar called the move a “PR stunt” by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

“In Erdoğan’s Turkey, the judiciary has long since become a tool for silencing political rivals and detaining journalists, judges, and mayors,” Sa’ar said in a social media post, referring to the arrest of Istanbul Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu earlier this year. Imamoglu, a key Erdogan rival, was arrested in March as part of corruption and terrorism investigations.
Hamas welcomed the warrants, saying the move “confirms the noble positions of the Turkish people and its leadership.”

The Turkish warrants raised questions over what role Turkey will play in a multinational security force for Gaza to uphold the US-brokered ceasefire deal.

Earlier this week, several Muslim-majority nations met in Istanbul to discuss an international stabilization force (ISF) for Gaza, a key part of US President Donald Trump’s 20-point ceasefire plan. The temporary force would train a new Palestinian police force and help stabilize the enclave.

US officials have cited Turkey, which played an important role in getting Hamas to agree to a ceasefire, as a potential participant in the force. And while it’s not clear what role Turkey will play in the force, Israel has made clear it is against Turkish troops in Gaza.

US Vice President JD Vance has said Israel will ultimately have to consent to any foreign troops stationed in Gaza. The Turkish warrants for Netanyahu and other officials come almost a year after the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued a warrant for the Israeli leader, accusing him of war crimes. The prime minister’s office had dismissed the ICC warrant as “absurd and antisemitic.”

<![CDATA[The International Crimes Tribunal-1 (ICT-1) on Wednesday sent 15 army officials, who were in the army custody, to jail in three cases related to enforced disappearance, murder and July uprising killing case.

A three-member tribunal, led by Justice Md Golam Mortuza Majumder, issued this order. Earlier, the officers were transported to the tribunal around 7:15AM amid tight security. Members of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and police were deployed in and around the court area.

The officers were transported in a green-coloured special prison van with AC facility.

The accused officers, held in custody over allegations of enforced disappearances and killings during the Awami League’s regime, were brought to the tribunal amid strict security around 7:15AM. They appealed for bail but the tribunal rejected their petitions and ordered their detention in jail.

Among those sent to prison are former Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Additional Director General Brig Gen Md Jahangir Alam, Brig Gen Tofayel Mostafa Sarwar, Brig Gen Md Kamrul Hasan, Brig Gen Md Mahbub Alam, Brig Gen K.M. Azad, Col Abdullah Al Momen and Col Anwar Latif Khan (now on retirement leave).

Others include ex-Rab intelligence wing officials Lt Col Md Mashiur Rahman, Lt Col Saiful Islam Sumon, Lt Col Sarwar Bin Kashem, Lt Col Mohammad Redwanul Islam, and former Borger Guard Bangladesh (BGB) officer Maj Md Rafat-bin-Alam.

The tribunal also ordered the imprisonment of three former DGFI directors -Maj Gen Sheikh Md Sarwar Hossain, Brig Gen Md Mahbubur Rahman Siddiqui, and Brig Gen Ahmed Tanvir Majahar Siddiqui. According to the prosecution, 34 individuals, including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, have been named as accused in the three cases. One case names 17 accused, another 13 and the third four.

The first case involves allegations that opposition figures were abducted and secretly detained and tortured inside the Task Force Interrogation (TFI) cell operated by Rab during the Awami League’s tenure. In the case, the formal charges naming Hasina and 16 others were submitted on October 8.

The second case was filed against Hasina, and 12 others over enforced disappearances allegedly carried out at the Joint Interrogation Cell (JIC), also known as the “Aynaghar.” The third case accuses four officers, including BGB’s Lt Col Redwanul Islam, of crimes against humanity for the killing of 28 people during the July-August movement in Rampura.

ACC Director General (DG) Md Akhter Hossain disclosed the information to the media at a press briefing in the commission headquarters at Segunbagicha area today.

According to Hossain, the accused were involved in large-scale corruption, manufacturing fake tender documents and bills using government development and revenue funds. These fraudulent activities allowed them to siphon off funds, which were reportedly funneled abroad.

"The former mayor, in collusion with the accounts officer, manipulated the system to award contracts to his own firms by submitting fake deeds and forged documents," Hossain said.

He further added that the illicit funds were laundered overseas, causing severe financial harm to the public exchequer.

The case highlights one of the largest embezzlement scandals involving local government officials in recent years, underscoring the growing concerns over corruption at the municipal level.

<![CDATA[A survivor of barbaric police shooting on the student-people in the city's Jatrabari area on July 19, 2024, today testified as the first prosecution witness (PW) against Sheikh Hasina, Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal and Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, in a case of crimes against humanity.

Khokon Chandro Barman, 23, a microbus driver by profession, who lost most of his face in the police firing on that day, narrated his ordeal at the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1.

'I joined the student-people movement on July 18, 2024, in Signboard area in Narayanganj for the first time. On July 19, I along with many students and people tried to go towards Chashara from Bhuighar. As we came in front of BGB camp, we first fell under firing from police and BGB. One was shot on his chest and died on the spot. Many people were killed and others were injured on that day,' Khokon said.

The witness said he got shot on August 5, when he along with thousands reached in front of Jatrabari Police Station.

'Around 12 to 12:30 pm, as we were chanting slogans in the area, police fired. A man in front of me was shot on his head. The bullet pierced through his head and hit another person standing beside him...Police came out of the police station and started firing indiscriminately. Many were shot; even I received pellets injuries on my hands and legs. As I hide myself behind a barrel kept there for transporting fish, one policeman came and fired at me from a close distance,' he added.

The young witness said the shotgun fire blew up most of his face, leaving him barely conscious.

'As I came into sense, I was just moving my hands for someone to come and help me. As some people tried to rush me from there to hospital, I managed to unlock my mobile and they called my family with that. I was first taken to Mugda Medical College Hospital, but seeing the severity of my injury, they sent me to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Even I was sent to Mirpur Dental Hospital, where I received treatment for 10 days,' he further said.

Khokon said he was later shifted to National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, where he was put on ICU for one month. 'I underwent treatment for many days there and after that I was sent to Russia on February 21, 2025, by the government,' he mentioned.

After his testimony, Advocate Amir Hossain, state appointed counsel for Sheikh Hasina and Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, cross-examined him.

After that, the three-member tribunal headed by its Chairman Justice Md Golam Mortuza Mozumder adjourned the hearing till tomorrow.

Earlier in the day, Chief Prosecutor Muhammad Tajul Islam submitted opening statement in the case. Before Tajul's submission, Attorney General Md Asaduzzaman addressed the tribunal and demanded justice over the monstrous crimes committed during July-August mass uprising.

The first tribunal on July 10 indicted the trio for the role in crimes against humanity committed during July-August mass uprising.

The ICT-1 on June 17 published notice in two national dailies, asking ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina and former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal to surrender on June 24.

'...as per rules 31 of the International Crimes (Tribunal-1) Rules of Procedure 2010 (Amendment), 2025, they are hereby ordered to surrender at this tribunal on June 24, 2025. Otherwise, trial will be held in their absence as per section 10A of the International Crimes (Tribunals) Act, 1973,' the notice said.

As the two accused opted not to appear before the court in spite of court's notice, the tribunal on June 24 had set today to hold hearing on charge framing.

The tribunal on June 16 ordered the authorities concerned to publish notices on two national dailies, one in Bangla and another in English, asking the two fugitive convicts to give up before the court.

Earlier, the ICT-1 on June 1 took the formal charge, filed by the prosecution in the case, into cognizance and had set June 16 for passing further order in this connection.

In line with that order, Chief Prosecutor Muhammad Tajul Islam on June 16 said, of the three accused, Sheikh Hasina and Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal are yet to be arrested and police learned from different sources that they are in India right now.

The prosecution in the formal charge brought five charges against ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal and former Inspector General of Police Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun.

The investigation agency of the ICT on May 12 filed its probe report in the crimes against humanity and mass killing case.]]>
